The results of the measurement of the Global Health Index show a worrisome condition for Indonesia. Indonesia ranks 101 out of 149 countries in the 2017 index based on physical, mental health, health infrastructure and care for the prevention of various epidemics or diseases. Indonesia is very far behind compared to Singapore which came in second place. Compared to other ASEAN countries, Indonesia is still defeated by Thailand, which is in 35th place, and Malaysia in 38th. Indonesia even loses to Vietnam, which is in 69th place or Laos in 94th. Some key indicators from the results of the Basic Health Research conducted in 2018 show that there are still many challenges faced in the development of the health sector.
